My Experience...
So Far...

My name is James, and this page details my entire personal experience with Shrewsbury Hair Loss Clinic Limited (run by Joseph Primarolo in Shrewsbury), My Hair Transplant Manchester (operated by Dr Khawaja Masood Munir), and the wider Hair Loss Treatment Clinics franchise network (www.hairlosstreatmentclinics.co.uk).

I am sharing this solely to warn other potential customers about serious issues I encountered, so others can avoid the same problems.

October 2025 – The Initial Consultation & Booking

In early October 2025, I visited Joseph Primarolo for a consultation at Shrewsbury Hair Loss Clinic Limited (Shrewsbury Hair Loss Clinic Limited (Company No. 12512964), Office 13 Flexspace Business Centre, Stafford Drive, Battlefield Enterprise Park, Shrewsbury, SY1 3FE).

From the very beginning, he presented the entire hair transplant procedure as one seamless, integrated service under his management.

He referred to My Hair Transplant Manchester as “our partner clinic” and gave the strong impression that everything was coordinated through his company.

During the consultation, I was handed a contract showing a single total price of £3,800 — £2,300 non-refundable deposit paid to Shrewsbury Hair Loss Clinic Limited, with the remaining £1,500 balance payable on the day of the surgery.

The document used singular language throughout: “your Hair Transplant Surgery,” “the surgical team,” “the booking process & forward planning of the surgical team.” There was no mention of two separate companies or separate terms/liability.

Joseph Primarolo also told me that after the transplant, I would return to him in Shrewsbury for follow-up Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, which he said he would personally perform.

At no point was it made clear that these were two legally and operationally separate businesses. I reasonably believed I was dealing with one trusted, coordinated UK operation. I paid the £2,300 deposit on that basis.

November & December 2025 – Two Cancellations Due to Newly Diagnosed High Blood Pressure

The procedure was booked for 19 November 2025 at My Hair Transplant Manchester (2nd and 4th Floor, Speakers House, 39 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 2BA).

On the day, my blood pressure was found to be significantly elevated — something newly identified during pre-operative screening.

The appointment was cancelled and immediately consulted a private GP at Nuffield Health in Shrewsbury, who confirmed it was “new hypertension,” prescribed Amlodipine, and advised home monitoring.

The medication worked well, with readings improving significantly at home to the normal range.

A second attempt was scheduled for 18 December 2025.

Again, my blood pressure was suddenly high.

Dr Khawaja Masood Munir personally instructed me to take an extra full dose of Amlodipine — despite knowing I had already taken my daily maximum dose just 12 hours earlier. This is a highly dangerous instruction, carrying serious risks of overdose, acute hypotension, and shock.

Dr Munir then administered diazepam (Valium) to calm me, but did so without explaining the dosage, risks, side effects, or potential interactions with my existing epilepsy medication (high-dose Lamotrigine). No informed consent was obtained.

The Adverse Reaction – Immediate & Severe

I was discharged after only 15–20 minutes with no proper monitoring, despite me reporting feeling strange effects.

Shortly after leaving the clinic, I suffered a severe adverse reaction: confusion, slurred speech, extreme drowsiness, unsteadiness, dizziness, and terrifying visual and auditory hallucinations.

A later letter from the private GP describes this as a “significant adverse reaction” that was “traumatic,” resulting in situational anxiety particularly pronounced in clinical settings. The GP states it would now be unsafe for me to return to that clinic due to stress-induced blood pressure elevation.

The Aftermath – Refund Refusal & Inconsistent Positions

I formally requested a full refund of the £3,800 (or at minimum minus £500 per Manchester’s own T&Cs section 5.3, which allows for refunds in cases of unknown medical conditions preventing rescheduling).

Manchester ignored my letter.

Joseph Primarolo responded weeks later, refusing to refund the £2,300 deposit and claiming I “withheld” medical information — which is false, as the hypertension was newly diagnosed.

He now insists the clinics are “completely separate” — despite his earlier language (“our partner clinic”), the unified contract, and his personal referral.

This selective position (one company when selling, separate when liability arises) is inconsistent and misleading.

From my visits and numerous other patient reviews, the Manchester clinic appears to be technician-led, with Dr Munir barely involved.

Many staff struggle with English, Munir speaks too fast to understand, and the setup felt unprofessional (random medical equipment left around, risk of infection etc).

Very recently, despite my repeated insistence on written communication only, someone from the surgery called me. During the call, the caller stated at one point that he didn’t think I’d get anywhere with my complaint. This was yet another example of no care, fobbing off, and unprofessional behaviour.

Current Status & Actions Taken

As of January 12, 2026:

  • I have initiated a Section 75 chargeback with my credit card provider.

  • I have reported the clinic to the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

  • I have reported Dr Munir to the General Medical Council (GMC).

  • I have reported misleading advertising and website claims to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

My Hair Transplant Manchester’s CQC rating is “Requires Improvement,” with ongoing safety concerns, which aligns with my experience, you can view it on the CQC website here.

Below is a screenshot from the official My Hair Transplant Manchester website page, which displays a "Good" rating for the London clinic instead. This creates a false and misleading impression of the Manchester clinic’s actual standard, as the Manchester location itself is rated “Requires Improvement” by the CQC. Such discrepancies further highlight concerns about transparency and accuracy in how these clinics present their services.

This entire situation has been one of the worst and most distressing experiences of my life — financially, emotionally, and physically.

I feel sorry for the people who actually went through with surgery and ended up with terrible final outcomes — they are now scarred with poor, unnatural work that will cost thousands to correct (if it’s even fixable).

This is why I built this site solely to warn others and help people make informed decisions before risking their money or health.
